Yes, I know I've practically deserted this blog, but I'm bringing it back to life! (Hopefully, don't get mad if it's another five months until another posting)

Yesterday, we had a nice break from the windy cold weather, and I couldn't pass up an opportunity to snap a few pictures. Brock was out fixing some fence by our house and I was tired of cleaning, so away I went! He was less then impressed because I'll think of anything to avoid cleaning! Oh well!

I was experimenting with the "sky" and how to keep the detail without underexposing the subject (Brock in this instance). I also tried some silhouette shots. Anyway, hope you like! Now back to cleaning...ugh...

It was getting pretty dark, so I whipped out the flash and experimented with that. I kinda like it :-)

A beer cake

I commissioned a beer cake for Brock's birthday made by his sister, Tiffany (she made our wedding cake as well). I was so pleased by how it turned out! After we got back from Deadwood, we had a birthday get-to-gether with our friends and family. We had a blast eating pizza and playing games!

I know this was almost a month ago, but I've been terribly busy with school and have zero time to keep up on this thing! Well, enjoy photos from a month ago :-)

Spent the night in Sundance Friday, then headed to Deadwood, S.D. Saturday. Joe took us out to the bars at 12:01 so Brock could enjoy his first drink.

First the cow gets thirsty

The only part I remember from this phone conversation was that he needed a "male part"

Then I was explained the birds and the bees of windmills :-)

This ended up being the culprit of today's adventure

My weekend consisted of staying at home all day, taking care of our bloodhound and gray cat, which I have no idea what breed she is. I attempted to write a paper Saturday and didn't get done until 5:00 p.m. because I was in and out of our recliner;

-letting the dog out to pee
-spanking him for chewing on the cat
-letting the dog out to pee
-walking the dog
-spanking him for eating out of the litter box
-letting the dog out to pee
-pushing him off our furniture
-spanking him for eating 3, yes 3, christmas ornaments off of our very first married tree!
-you guessed it...letting him out to pee (Although, I'm very proud of him for having only 1 accident in the house this entire weekend)

So, until Brock and I make little people, you'll have to put up with pictures of our little trouble maker....he is kinda cute :-)

This is his favorite chew toy...as long as it's not my computer cord I really don't care what he chews on.

Our dog is cute...I'm not gonna lie about it. (I thought this all of last night until I found the pile of poop behind the recliner...seriously dog!)

I love what gravity does to his face :-) No more wrinkles!

An Enjoyable Weekend

Sunday was absolutely gorgeous and the perfect day to preg check.

I decided to "help" which consisted of poking the cows in the ribs with a stick...much fun.

...the storm that is :-) I decided not to go to school this morning as the roads were farely icy. I've been spending the day entertaining our children (aka, the dog and kitty) and making cards.

Nothing makes me happier in the morning then this...TEA!!!! I love the sight of this. This is my coffee addiction, except it's tea silly.

Yes, these pictures were taken from inside our house, but I'm way to lazy to actually go outside. Not to mention it was like...20 degrees.

This is Brock's "new" car. AKA: Will's old car. Since I stole Brock's Dodge Stratus, he decided he still needed something to drive around in...she's a beast.

School was canceled because of a winter storm so Archimedes and I went feeding with Brock. I was the designated gate opener/closer...I feel so special sometimes!

Sleep Aid

The first night we brought Archimedes home, he was so exhausted from driving all day that he slept through the night without a hitch (except for some poo problems on the bed, but we fixed that and he went right back to sleep). We woke up thinking "Wow, he's a good sleeper. We got the jackpot with him!" So the next night rolls around. Brock and I just get to bed and it started. The continuous sound of his baying and crying ALL NIGHT. You might think I'm exaggerating on this but I'm not. ALL NIGHT! This lasted for a couple more days (we finally got ear plugs) and we decided desperate measures must be taken.

That's when our little angel from heaven arrived :-) Here she is...Galileo, Gally for short.

This is her hiding spot from Archimedes. He can't reach her to chew on her tail and Gally can soak up the sun!

This little kitten has saved our marriage! (okay, it wasn't that bad but I like to sound dramatic) We found out the problem was that Archimedes was super lonely down in the basement where he sleeps. My mom-in-law graciously gave us an already house trained kitten after my dad-in-law voiced his opinion of having a cat in his house. The result was day and night...literally. We didn't hear a peep out of Archimedes that entire first night...Except for the occasional meow from Galileo because Archimedes like to chew on her. They act like they don't like each other sometimes, but they sleep in the same bed so I'm not falling for it.

Well, there ya have it! Our little angel has blessed us with the gift of nighttime sleep.

Well, the first night went well. We only woke up one time (at 4:30 a.m.) to a cute puppy bay and found a nice little surprise on his bed...We fixed that and he went back to sleep until 6:30. The morning was a little rough with more puppy poo on the carpet (we've decided for no more "wet" dog food in hopes that the "dry" food will make for easier cleaning).

Cards for Sale

To stay sane while I'm in college, I resort to any kind of craft project there is. It's a very nice break from homework and makes the nights go faster when I'm away from Brock. I just finished a quilted book bag and will start a baby quilt soon (for my friend, not me people!)

Updates to Our House

Between my driving trips back and forth to Chadron, somehow I've managed to fix up our house a little bit. Brock helped by building us an entertainment center and headboard for our new KING size bed (yay bigger bed). Hope you enjoy!

BREAKING NEWS! (Sorry, It's the journalist coming out in me)

It's official, we are getting a bloodhound puppy October 18! Brock and I are so excited and can hardly wait to see him. After that day I'm sure this blog will consist of pictures mostly of him, but you readers won't be dissapointed. Here's a sneak peak of the little guy...

We were originally going to get this exact puppy, but the breeders informed us of a litter that would be ready on the 18th versus the 3rd (a little to soon for us). Our puppy will be very similar (tan and black).

My Birthday!

I am 21 now...weird. Brock and I celebrated by going on a picnic behind our house. The wind was blowing that day and some of the only trees on the ranch are behind our house. We took shelter in there!

We also went bowling the night before in Martin, SD. Steve managed to beat us both games, but that's usually how it is :-)

Susie Cheney's birthday is only 2 days after mine, so we had cake and ice cream together last week. Lots of fun! What a great time of year!

Nothing But Routine Around Here

That's right, we get up, go to work, come home, go to sleep, and the next day do it all over again! I'm definitely not complaining considering I get to listen to my Ipod all day on the tractor and get fed by one of the best cook's in Nebraska. Lately though it's been rather chilly and rainy so our routine is becoming less of a routine. A couple days ago we pulled bulls and moved cows to different pastures (see pictures below: courtesy of Steve Moreland). Yesterday morning I managed to mow hay with my sister and mom-in-law despite occasional sprinkling of rain and wind. It was nice to have a break from raking because the little blue tractor I mow with is so delightful to ride on. That afternoon I helped Brock change baler belts and boy was that fun (definitely exaggeration in this sentence). Actually, it wasn't to bad. The baler is like a really cool jungle gym to climb around in and I sure appreciated the time spent with my cute cowboy!

Painting

is a lot of hard work! Yesterday, I painted the OTHER wall of our living room a tan sorta color (I was tired of the stark white). I think both of the colors are beautiful separately, but not sure about them together. Regardless, I’m keeping it that color because I don't feel like painting it anything else! Brock really likes it and doesn't want me to change it (which makes me extremely happy because I’m exhausted by the end of a painting day). It does make the living room feel much warmer though.

We've been getting quite a few thunderstorms with rain lately (which gets us out of the hayfield yayyyyyyyyyyyy!) so Brock and I have had some spare time for "projects" around the house. Brock is almost finished with a bar he's been building since school got out. It's made out of old barn wood and looks like it could be in an antique store. I just "assembled" a pantry that I bought from Wal-Mart so now I have heaps of room for food.

This is for dad and Clayton...yes I'm actually driving a tractor!

Reception and Family

Brock and I had our "Nebraska Reception" last Saturday in Cody at the White Elephant Hall. There was a great turn-out in the park for supper and everyone had fun dancing to the Twin River Band that evening. My mom, dad, and sister came to visit as well and we enjoyed having them in our new house! Dad didn't sit down once his first day here as he was busy hanging curtains, fixing closet doors, and doing other various tasks that I politely asked of him :-) Mom was a cleaning machine and did all the chores that she knows I hate doing! Since their plane didn't leave until Monday evening, we decided to sightsee a little, driving through Hot Springs, Custer National Park and Keystone, South Dakota. We stopped alongside the road and peaked at Mount Rushmore (you had to pay to get into the parking lot!). I'm so thankful that my family was able to see where our "new" home is and Brock and I are looking forward to the rest of my family visiting in the future!

House Happenings

The living room is finished with a "rust" coat of paint. I think our native looking couch really adds to the room ;-) When I venture to Rapid City this Thursday I will be picking up some fabulous looking curtains with a slip cover to cover that hideous couch! Although, I am very thankful to our good friend Joe for giving us our first piece of furniture.

Brock is busy haying and I have unofficially finished unpacking our house! There are no longer trails to every room and I'm not constantly stubbing my toes on boxes. Our house is now ready for the company arriving later this week for our wedding reception in Cody, Nebraska!

Home Sweet Home

After driving 18+ hours from Lewiston, Idaho to Merriman, Nebraska, we finally rolled in about 8:00 pm on Tuesday, July 7. Wasting no time, we unloaded the U-Haul trailer and the entire Excursion in about half an hour (with the help of Brock’s sister Tiffany and his Aunt Sybil). Our house became very overwhelming for me at the sight of all the boxes carried in. The kitchen is finally put away (along with our brand new range!) and I am now concentrating my efforts on painting….much more fun (but tiring) than unpacking :-)
